Research Interests: Arithmetic geometry, number theory, non-commutative geometry

Education: PhD, University of Chicago

Professor Consani joined the Department of Mathematics at Johns Hopkins in 2005. Before coming to Johns Hopkins, she taught at the University of Toronto, and before that, MIT. She received the title of Dottore di Ricerca in Matematica from the Universities of Genoa and Turin in Italy in 1993 and her PhD from the University of Chicago in 1996.

She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Number Theory, Journal of the Institute of Mathematics of Jussieu, Journal of Noncommutative Geometry, and of Rendiconti del Seminario Matematico della Universita' di Padova.

Her research interests are in the fields of arithmetic geometry and algebraic geometry and the connections with non-commutative geometry. She is actively working on the development of the notion of an ‘absolute geometry’, aka geometry over the ‘absolute point’, and a geometry in characteristic one.
