April 19: Spring 2026 Algebra and Number Theory Day

The Spring 2026 Algebra and Number Theory Day will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Johns Hopkins University. The speakers will be Rui Chen, Rok Gregoric, and Christian Klevdal from JHU, and Foivos Chnaras, Myeong Jae Jeon, and Junyan Zhao from UMD.


January 31 & February 1: Johns Hopkins Junior Number Theory Days 2025/26

The Johns Hopkins Junior Number Theory Days are a two-day workshop in Number Theory, where the speakers are either PhD students who are graduating, or post-docs who recently graduated. It aims to bring together strong, promising young researchers in Number Theory and neighboring fields, and to give them an opportunity to showcase their work.


Takashi Ono, 1928–2026

Takashi Ono

Dr Takashi Ono, Professor Emeritus of Johns Hopkins University, passed away on January 11, 2026 at the age of 97. He was renowned for his foundational work in algebraic number theory and arithmetic geometry. Ono served as a tenured professor at the JHU Department of Mathematics from 1969 until his retirement in 2011.

Dr Jack Morava, Professor Emeritus of Johns Hopkins University, passed away on August 1, 2025, just a few days shy of his 81st birthday. His legacy includes important families of generalized cohomology theories named in his honor.
