Steve Zelditch 1953–2022

Steve Zelditch, a member of the Department of Mathematics from 1985 to 2010, died on September 11. He served as department chair from 1999 to 2002, and was an editor of the American Journal of Mathematics for many years. Steve moved to Northwestern University in 2010 and became the Wayne and Elizabeth Jones Professor of Mathematics. In 2013 he received the Stefan Bergman Prize for his seminal work on the Bergman kernel. He also was an ICM speaker and an inaugural Fellow of the American Mathematical Society. He served on several editorial boards and was a leading figure in many fields, including global analysis, complex geometry and mathematical physics.
